Sisters

Pink Flowers

Sisters, hearts of joy, click of belonging made,
When together, united and unafraid,
Thoughts blooming,
Possibilities looming,
Memories of sharing and love never fade.

Dedicated to my sister, who was taken away from me far too long ago. I miss her every day. And to all my newer sisters, may our sisterhood forever bloom!!

The Faerie & The Writer

Here is a magical post from Richard Ankers, a very talented writer and poet. I love his crystal carriages and capes of clover, his words stir the imagination and involve all the senses. Have a magical end to the week, Brenda

Happy International Fairy Day!!

IMG_8877

Here is a poem in honor of the fairies, Flower Bower:

Fragranced wind blows steadily,
Sparkles of magic spin and settle to the meadow.
Fairies dance jigs when the fiddler plays
Under the shady flower bower.

Pink-Gold Sun

Peonies in sunshine

Summer sunshine’s burns bright,
Rings of pink-gold blinding light.
Peonies burst forth, glossy and fragrant,
Sunshine embraces them, radiant.

Bright White Hope

White Iris

A favorite flower, an offering for hope, for joy…

Go USA!! I’ll be watching the World Cup this evening!
No offense to the Portugese, who have a beautiful country that I long to visit, but my fingers are crossed for the USA!!!

Edit — Argh!! Robbed of a win in the extra time. Why 5 minutes of extra time?!

Happy Midsummer!

Foxglove in Sunshine

May your inner light shine on the longest day,
Reflecting back the light of the universe.

I also offer a free midsummer fairy tale set in Ireland, about a young girl and the traditions of her family on Midsummer. Here is a link to Midsummer Stew, a tale of fairy retribution and redemption and of the interconnectedness of us all.

Blessings, Brenda

White Butterfly Dream

IMG_8884

The white butterfly raises her wings,
Setting sail across the wide Dogwood Sea.
Wind makes the crossing choppy,
White wings jibe and come about,
Alighting nowhere, like a fae albatross.
The cabbage-white butterfly blends —
She could be a dogwood petal
But for her mesmerizing aerial dance.
One tiny egg laid on the underside of a mustard leaf,
Gave birth to her brief but ecstatic life.
Her tiny white wing-sails make of the air an endless ocean.
Oh, to dance with her on the white breakers,
Smelling sweetly of spring rather than salt
With nectar’s spray dampening my skin.

Papa Poppy

Red Poppy

Shining brightly, for all to see,
Father flower, right there nightly,
Strong and steadfast, ready to enfold,
With love, his children he beholds.

Happy Father’s Day to my hubby, father of my three children, my own father and my father-in-law. And Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, on the good days and the bad. Parenting can be a bumpy road, but this is for the dads who keep going, day after day, making bad days better and good days great. We all need our fathers as much as our mothers. Blessings, Brenda
