The Magnificent Sky

a drenched day of rain,
Sandra Pond's icy glitter,
even the birds hide

Notes: My office is in our sunroom. Last week, the outside temperature crept past 80° F (27° C), and I turned on the AC. This week’s rain made me pile on sweaters and scarfs. Yet, I have a stubborn desire not to turn the heat back on. I’ve been shivering like I did on a March visit to Sandra Pond. Before the ice fully melted. Before the robins returned. The way the melting ice reflected the sky was as magnificent and transient as spring flowers.
