Finding my Focus

Waves beat the shore into sand,
wheels of clouds darken the day,
not one thing goes as planned.

But a rock ledge offers a chair,
I rest my feet close to the salt spray,
and the cooling breeze lifts my hair.

I see paths
drawing me

Vermont River Wishes

Moody Sky at river

Clouds framed a glaring window,
where the sun failed to shine.
Winds loosed a hailstorm of pine cones.
The icy river churned and burbled,
depositing silt onto smooth stones.
Upriver, the dam released water slowly.
The waterfall below demanded rain,
but it lay heavy in the black clouds.

Quechee Gorge and Dam
A few drops spattered in the gorge,
unnoticed by waders in the flats.
The river shrugged smooth shoulders,
showing its sharp granite bones.
Children chased fish downriver,
while parents soaked tired feet,
listening for thunder and
dreading the long climb out.
Canoers beached their boats,
donned yellow lifejackets,
and floated around the rapids,
bobbing in the slow side current.
Children pointed, laughed,
and longed to be in the thick of it.
I am the children. I am the river.
I am black clouds longing for release.

Roll back the clouds,
Bring me some sun.
Go away gray days,
It’s time for some fun!

Dragon sky

Check out Lady Fi’s stunning Dragon Sky! Hurry before it disappears like the other dragons. 😉 Have a great Thursday, Brenda

The autumn equinox rushed in

Like a ragged brow across the sky;

Ragged brow

A dragon breathing fire clouds

Of orange and rain.

Dragon

The strange light in the sky

Pulled us up the hill

Dog

To witness the sight of purple turmoil in the sky

In contrast to the calm surface of the lake.

(A few seconds later, the heavens opened

And a gale force wind started blowing

Making us dash for home in a whirlwind

Of laughter and leaves.)

Excerpt of
Gregori Returns

Darvin drifted as part of the clouds for a long time, enjoying shoving them this way and that with his will. He forgot why he was there in the clouds. The ground looked black beneath him.

“Darvin! Darvin! Darvin!!” Darvin heard the call, and he became confused. Where was he? Why could he not move? He remembered he was scrying, and he remembered controlling the clouds. He tried to find his body, but he had lost all sense of direction drifting.

“Darvin!” That sounded like Sillette. He drifted along the water, particle to particle, moving toward the call, his consciousness moving along the water bridge as quickly as sound travels. He let go of his urge to control the clouds. They started to break apart.
