missing migrators
flying flocks disappeared south,
empty nests

Notes: Perhaps I’m not as busy as birds on migration, but I’m still feeling the pinch of cold winter days and less daylight. But I’m grateful to share my yard over-winter with sparrows, cardinals and blue jays. A few sparrows shelter in my roofline, and their constant chatter reminds me that spring is coming. This photograph was taken 8 years ago on Cape Cod — hard to believe so much time has passed.
Lots of them are dying.

I’ve wondered about birds migrating into fire zones, like last autumn on the west coast. Lots of the usual ones in my garden right now, though.

I don’t know if birds can sense the fires and get away in time. I hope many of them do. Fires are hard on all the wild species, I believe.

I love this picture, like a neighborhood of bungalows, each unique. I’m looking forward to warmer and longer days as well

Now that Emily is living inside, I can feed the birds and have bird houses again. 🙂 I’ve missed them. You have a lovely collection

I wish they were mine, but they were just a lovely find on a long walk.

My wife spotted three robins today while walking. Always a good sign.

Yay! You’re right, they are often the first to return. 🙂
