Wishes have Wings

IMG_2519

In the faraway summer,
wishes took flight. Wishes of
healing, happiness, and light.
And peace, joy, and plenty for all,
whether busy as bees.
Or lonely and small.  Continue reading

Fairy Dreams by Joy

Here is a visit by a fellow Poetry Friday writer, Joy, all the way from Hawaii. I hope you have a couple minutes to visit her by clicking the link on her name.

Moody Sky at river

A fairy comes to visit
me in my dream
together we eat
berries with cream. Continue reading

See Pink

Pink Dogwood blooms, 4 petals each

For anyone in need of a little PINK today!
Is there a fairy hiding behind there? I can’t say. 😉

Lune a Lark

Tiger Striped Longwing Heliconius ismenius

butterfly spreads wings
a lark sings
oh, the joy spring brings

Note: This is my first attempt at a lune, and I was in a rhyming mood. A lune is a haiku variant with syllable count of 5-3-5 instead of the usual 7-5-7. Morgan wrote a magical one. I know I saw one a few weeks ago on Poetry Friday, but then I lost track of who’d written it. If it was you, let me know, and I’d be happy to link up.

Thanks to Michelle Heidenrich Barnes, a prolific poet and champion of poetry, at Today’s Little Ditty for hosting Poetry Friday.

The butterfly is a Tiger-Striped Longwing (Heliconius ismehius). The photo was taken at the Boston Museum of Science’s Butterfly Garden.

Roses for Noses

My nose misses roses
through long winter days,
but Trader Joe’s knows.
There, summers scents
come in cellophane.

Mushroom Hug

Mushroom sprouting in ivy

Mushroom smiles,
arms akimbo,
for a mushroom hug.

Hey, don’t shrug!
Really.
It’s a mushroom hug.
Can’t see it?
Don’t throw a fit.
Smile wide as me,
and you’ll see it,
lickety-split.

Note: I hope you see the hug, same as me. 🙂 My rhyme is disorganized, perhaps I should call this rhyming ADD. My words have executive function issues, but as my eldest would say, Who cares? It’s a brave new world of “whatever works.” But does it work? Hope you’re having a great weekend!
