Hello and welcome to the virtual home of Brenda Davis Harsham, award-winning Author and Children’s poet.

Together with her fantastic husband and three story-telling children, she enjoys the unpredictability of life in New England.

Her ever-growing Publications page keeps track of where her stories and poetry may be found in the wild — anthologies and journals and magazines, oh my!

Occasionally, her busy schedule allows time for school or club visits. Puppets shows with audience participation are her specialty. But don’t ask her to read her poetry! She loves that WAY too much. Craft of Writing workshops are available, one-day or longer as negotiated.

Her fine art photography is available for purchase on the Society6 website, including an Abstracts in Nature series.

She is not soliciting manuscripts from children at this time, but a few are available in the By&4Kids group by clicking here.

  1. Hi Brenda. It is a pleasure to have you join my growing number of followers ( I think that makes two now. After the first one I lost count). I see that you are a lover of fairy tales. I suspect my story of Angus and the Elephant would likely become a white elephant in here. Still, I had to come by and say thank you for your decision to follow me. You may note other more qualified writers are reading my blog. Its not their fault though, they came for a visit and found themselves trapped because I had the doorknobs removed, and thus became contaminated. I wouldn’t worry about the same fate befalling you though, I’m sure there’s a window in “My Attic” somewhere. I’m sincerely pleased to have you as one of my followers, Brenda, and promise not to lead you astray—too much. 😀

  17. Thanks for visiting my blog. I don’t know where in New England you live, but it’s a nasty year to be here. Plan to put my house on the market as soon as I can fix it when spring arrives (if it ever does) and move South! 🙂

    • Oh my, I have thoughts of doing that myself, if only it didn’t mean uprooting my three kids. I’m afraid my roots are sunk well below the frost line. I read your H&R Block story, and WOW! They are charging more than partners in law firms.

  19. Here’s a message from Türkiye to say “thank you”. I appreciate your recent ‘follow’, knowing how many interesting and entertaining blogs there are out there.

    Blogging since June 2013, my little corner of the world tries to offer an eclectic smattering of posts, from basic amateur photography, to sharing my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day-to-day happenings here on our fruit farm in southern Turkey. I also throw in a few of my observations on life and lighter-hearted stuff for good measure.

    You are more than welcome to have a look around, stay a while and have a trawl through my collection. There are plenty of categories within the drop-down menus to help in said digging process. Of course, if you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, feel free to let me know – I’m not easily offended 🙂

  20. I guess I am an old Kid at heart.. I always believed in Fairytales… and they all have to have Happy Endings.. You have a wonderful blog Brenda.. and it sounds like you have a wonderful family.. and great talent..

    • Sue, I am a kid at heart, too, and my kids keep me in touch with youth, lest I forget. Thanks for your kind words. You award has a special place in my heart, as it is recognition of how far I’ve come from the bitter, unhappy youth I was, long ago, who didn’t always feel able to make good choices. These days, I live a more mindful, joyful life, trying to stay young and follow my heart. May your dream walk in sunshine, Brenda

    • I loved your swallows. The first novel I wrote was with swallows as characters. It was such fun to write. I still like seeing them in photos. I love that they swooped around you but never hurt you. 🙂 That fits everything I know about them. I bet you had tons fewer bugs, too, to balance out the messy floors.

      • Another blogger said something about her mother having some bird nests around the house and didn’t have too many mosquitoes. After I thought about that, I haven’t seen as many this year as before. But the flies are very bad this past week. Guess the barn swallows don’t like flies. But then they are not around quite as much these past few weeks. 🙂

  34. Hi Brenda, I have been wondering whether anyone has heard from Ajaytao recently? I know he has been dealing with a serious illness and the last I read from him he also was having cardiac problems; then I haven’t heard anything since and miss his daily poems and photos. Blessings!

  38. I enjoyed my visit here. I believe we are kindred spirits with our love of words and art and all things creative. As a first grade teacher, I know there are many cool things for me to come back for, especially fairy tales! (We grew up with a love for them.)

    Thank you for the like for my ‘Flowers have Visitors’ post. It was a great photo opportunity. I was only planning on flower pics.

    I am not a writer per se, but your blog is quite impressive. My daughters are between 13 and 25 but I think most of them (we have 6 altogether, 1 of whom is married) will find this site fascinating. I know I have.

    Thanks again, and stop by soon. I have been on a roll lately with posts – I have some more traveling posts to publish over the next couple of weeks.
