how I miss spring’s
dazzle and swirling petals
of lilacs and pears;
this wet July brings to mind
those cool, delicious days

Notes: This July and its generous rains have led to early cherry tomatoes and long, thin cucumbers, hanging heavy on the vine. The air is scented with July’s blooms, but this year’s sunshine is light and cool. I feel sad for people suffering elsewhere from floods, extreme heat, drought or other challenges. I’ve been staying apart, reading about the Delta variant of covid, but also reading about the Olympics, cheering on the competitors, and worrying about extreme heat elsewhere. I wish everyone good health, athletes, coaches, judges, security, officials, family, friends and fans.
Wonderful to see and hear of your summer, Brenda.
