lackluster weeding
humid weekend afternoon,
scent of roses

Notes: The subtle scent of cottage roses lifts my spirits. A little fertilizer last year has made all the difference. I hope your garden is repaying your efforts with the invisible magic of scents.

The scent of roses is a wonderful reward for weeding. Last year I planted some lavender, and this year, when I was stirring about in the garden, weeding, etc, the smell was amazing! I like the use of “lackluster” here–it goes perfectly with a humid afternoon.

Thank you. I always look forward to summer, and then I feel like a slug — lazing about. 🙂
