Yes when I was growing up Epiphany was a big deal, the coming of the kings, taking down the tree. Now people have trees on the curb or basement on the 26th.

Oh that is sad. Perhaps the trees go up far too early these days which makes people eager to take them down as soon after Christmas as possible.

Our houses are getting smaller, too. In some cases, the tree is in the way. But I keep mine up to enjoy a little longer.
