Finds tongues in trees, books in running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in everything.
— William Shakespeare
For all the people whose inner sense of self won’t be tamed into a category just to make others happy, comes a wonderful new picture book, BunnyBear by Andrea J. Loney, illustrated by Carmen Saldaña, Albert Whitman & Company, 2017. The bouncy bear, the elder bunny and Grizzlybun are important archetypes, but they are also FUN! From the first page, “There once was a bear who was more than a bear,” you know this is a book for rebels, mavericks and trend-setters (oh my!). For both the lion-hearted and the bunny-hearted. The art is a delight as well.

Notes: This book shares themes with the middle grade novel I’m editing. It makes me smile, just looking at the cover, where BunnyBear explores a burrow — check out the link and see if it makes you smile. I hope you liked this micro review, and that you have a chance to read the book. Have a magical week.

It is an adorable story. I had written a draft of a story that was similar, and then I read hers and thought, whew. Now I don’t have to, because here is the perfect book already.

You won’t be sorry. This one is such fun. It would be great fun to read it, pick a character to be and then try to walk around like that character. 🙂
