We’re overcrowded,
we’ve no room,
move over,
shove over,
That spot
there is bare,
lay your root
in that stony crack,
it’ll be fun
it’ll have what we lack.
And don’t come back.

Notes: This is a persona poem, with a recent photo as inspiration. Laura Shovan, author of the delightful new novel-in-verse, The Last Fifth Grade at Emerson Elementary, issued the challenge on Today’s Little Ditty.

Happy Poetry Friday and Hello Weekend, I see you hiding there! Thanks to Margaret at Reflections at the Teche for hosting this week down on Louisiana’s Bayou Teche.
