Colonize

IMG_3272

We’re overcrowded,
we’ve no room,
move over,
skedaddle,
shove over,
split,
quit!
That spot
there is bare,
lay your root
in that stony crack,
it’ll be fun
it’ll have what we lack.
And don’t come back.

Notes: This is a persona poem, with a recent photo as inspiration. Laura Shovan, author of the delightful new novel-in-verse, The Last Fifth Grade at Emerson Elementary, issued the challenge on Today’s Little Ditty.
