surf pounds the shore
of pink and gray speckled granite,
damp, stinging rain
when I move, even stones
sparkle like diamonds

Notes: The last time I walked along the Gloucester shore, it rained 5 minutes after I arrived. Gusty, wet winds channeled early spring storms.
….in the woods the birds rejoice.
Din. Clamour. Noise. All nature echoes
The thunder’s youthful, merry voice.
— from Spring Storm by Fyodor Tyutchev
Caddy opened the box.
“It was full of stars.
When I was still, they were still.
When I moved, they glinted and sparkled.
I hushed.”
― The Sound and the Fury
An old statue, a testimony of times long gone. Made me think of Kipling and jack London.

All is well. I am settling into my life. Loving that 2 of my kids are still home with me. Are you still photographing the wildlife in your Chicago backyard? And I love looking at the galaxy through your posts.

Sounds as if things are going well for you. I’m so happy about that. Hope you found a job you like…not an easy task. The Astronomy Picture of the Day site is amazing. I love that so may people enjoy the pictures I take off of it. I haven’t had a lot of wildlife lately. Just the possums. 🙂 But now that summer is on its way, the birds are coming back and things are looking up. All is well. Have a new cat named Bunny who is like a hyper active two year old. She almost 5. Got her from Orphans of the Storm and she’s fabulous. Enjoy your kids and have a wonderful summer. 🙂

You also, Gigi. Thanks for update, and I hope the birds make you happy. We have a rapacious pileated woodpecker — a very handsome redhead.

Nice, as long as it’s not attacking your house.
I had a woodpecker peck holes all over my cedar siding. Constantly having the holes filled and painted. Hanging pie tins and flutter things all over, to keep him away. They do like cedar. He’s finally gone. Had two sets of sparrows born and raised in one of the holes. Everything patched up and fixed now but it was not fun. Beautiful birds but not on our houses. LOL

Agreed. I had cedar shingles on my first house, and the carpenter bees left perfect round circles all over them.

I love the rain. It feels like a momentous secret because I know I’m alone in this. But I love those first few cold drops and even the unrestrained downpour. It sings to my survivor heart.
