after snowmelt,
the first flowers have
a special magic

Notes: April is when the landscape blossoms with new plants nearly every day. Sprouts erupt, buds swell, trees leaf and the sun warms. Like Frog in Arnold Lobel’s Frog and Toad (Spring), we know it’s time to come outside. This is an old picture of my Hellebores plant, which blooms before frogs and toads come out of hibernation.
