Fairy Tale in Black

Ruth Bader Ginsburg - Wikipedia

Once upon a time, Ruth grew into
a woman who refused to let others
put her in her place. She made
her own place, a place where

hard work, talent and persistence
would carry her across battlefields
of books, opinions, and gavels, where
great minds clamored and clashed.

She became the Notorious RGB,
righter of wrongs, arbiter of equality,
opera promoter, and heroine of
a generation of girls and women.

Even as she passes from hearts into history,
she left words for us, her last wish
that confirmation be delayed as it was
for her unlikely but true friend, Justice Scalia.

The roses in her cheeks may fade,
but we hold each of her words intact.
Her each mote and molecule remain
a part of this earth, never to leave us.

beautiful opera quotes

Notes: I was saddened when Ruth Bader Ginsberg lost her battle with cancer, but happy to remember with gratitude how she triumphed at life. Has there ever been another lawyer, judge or justice made into an action figure? I looked for her in her own words. I can’t pick a favorite quote, but this is a good place to start:

— “Reading is the key that opens doors to many good things in life. Reading shaped my dreams, and more reading helped me make my dreams come true.” — Ruth Bader Ginsberg
