Happiness of Ferns

toward sunshine,

Notes: As May draws to a close, and I think about poetry, work, sunshine and my kids, a line from a poem bubbles up, inspiring my seed poem:

Happiness lands on the roof of the next house, singing

— from Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem, So Much Happiness

A seed poem is a short poem that encapsulates a thought capable of growing into a nourishing moment of reflection. (And yes, I made that up.)

Happy Poetry Friday! Thanks to Mary Lee Hahn at A Year of Reading for hosting. She is providing an optional theme — Naomi Shihab Nye poetry — which jibes nicely with my moment.
