We finally got around to celebrating my one year blogoversary with cake tonight as suggested by a WordPress friend. As requested, here is a photograph of our cake, a cinnamon streusel cake. My children and I managed to devour a whole loaf pan of it in under 20 minutes. Don’t report us to the nutrition police. I’m sure the cinnamon will be good for controlling our blood sugar. The discerning among you will notice that one of my talented children managed to flick some of the streusel into my milk. Two points!
I asked my second son to make a nice arrangement of the candle, the plates, and the cake, I would be taking pictures, and this is what he came up with:
Not bad. Unfortunately, he put out five candles, planning we should celebrate my daughter’s birthday instead of my blogoversary. 🙂 (I don’t think any of us will be quitting our day jobs to become food photographers.)
Hope you all have happy tummies tonight!
Hugs, Brenda

Congrats on the first year! And you made me laugh about the photograph “arrangement”… seeing things through the eyes of a child often gives us reason to smile. Cake sounds yummy too ! 🙂

A blogoversary cake, that’s a good idea! So where’s the recipe?! 😀 I know about strudel, but I’ve never heard of a streusel before. Even my English spell check for comments doesn’t recognise the word, it’s coming up with lustre!!! 😆 I shall have to bake myself a belated one – any excuse for cake! 😉
LikeLike
LOL Please do. Streusel is a fancy word for cinnamon-sugar and melted butter combined into a heavenly topping to a muffin or quick bread. You can also make it into the topping for an apple crisp, except you also add oatmeal. Yum. I’m salivating just describing it. I think I like it more than chocolate some days. 🙂 I happen to have used a box, because it’s easy that way, but if I had to, I could make one without a box or a recipe. I’m a throw-it-together and make something new every time kind of person. It works for me. People are always asking me for my recipes, but I never use one. Oh, I found a reference to it online, but it only suggests using it’s own box: http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/cinnamon-streusel-quick-bread/44c6342c-6c61-46c1-b71f-f9db8068d427
Let me know what you end up making. 🙂 Cheers, Brenda

You do sound like my aunt who likes her garden, she’s a throw together baking person and so was her mother. I don’t think my grandmother even owned a weighing scales! 😀 I’m more a one for writing detail down so I don’t forget, especially when it comes to cakes and biscuits – oh and soups! But with other cooking, like main meals – definitely throw together!
Thank you for the recipe link, that looks intriguing, I shall save it in my bookmarked recipes for a rainy day, baking day! I have a favourite cake recipe which I called Coconut Dream Cake, it involves coconut, glacé cherries and quite a bit of bourbon vanilla. So I’ll probably do that one! 😀

This was a great way to celebrate and I enjoyed the thought of cinnamon streusel cake, may have to go home and make some cinnamon toast! I also enjoy the way you involve your children! This was not too much for one day, after all, since you probably did not have that much sugar the rest of the time! Smiles, Robin
