Fall
Seedpods
Sticky Blooms
Carried by birds
Scattered by rainstorms
Sticking to animals
Silk expanding on breezes
Tiny hopes for the plant’s future
Carrying next year’s dreams, hearts aloft
Dormant all winter, waiting to burst forth.

Thanks, I didn’t know it had a name until I went looking through a poetry glossary. It was fun to write, but tricky… For awhile I had two lines of 5 syllables and 2 of 7.

I always wondered if there could be another use for milkweed silk, other than fairy gowns…

The crocodile looking one is milkweed, and the other may be a form of lettuce, but i’m not sure.

My favorite parts to this were “hearts aloft” and “tiny hopes” because Spring does show us the way the seeds that have been distributed become anew!

Thanks! I really love this time of year, where the past, the present and future are all interchanging, with wilted flowers, late blooms and seedpods all vying for attention.

Great shots, Brenda. I never heard of this type poem, but you seem to be a master at it. Well done!

It was my first attempt, and I was quite surprised the form had already been invented and had a name! I had checked to be sure. I liked the form for my subject because of the way the plants grow seed, slowly bit by bit. 🙂

I like this Etheree style, very nice poem. After reading this beautiful poem on plants I promise that from now on I will never take a leak on a plant.

I carry a tiny little Elph (I know, right?) in my purse for any passing photogenic phenomena, but seriously, your photos are superior by far. Seriously thinking about an iPhone now… 🙂 Wonderful poem; etherees always feel like they end on the promise of more.

I used to carry an Elph, but I find I can do most things with my iphone. I’m not a professional though. I also can’t carry much weight because my back is iffy.
