Hello and welcome to the virtual home of Brenda Davis Harsham, award-winning Author and Children’s poet.

Together with her fantastic husband and three story-telling children, she enjoys the unpredictability of life in New England.

Her ever-growing Publications page keeps track of where her stories and poetry may be found in the wild — anthologies and journals and magazines, oh my!

Art Prints are Available at Society6

Occasionally, her busy schedule allows time for school or club visits. Puppets shows with audience participation are her specialty. But don’t ask her to read her poetry! She loves that WAY too much. Craft of Writing workshops are available, one-day or longer as negotiated.

Her fine art photography is available for purchase on the Society6 website, including an Abstracts in Nature series.

She is not soliciting manuscripts from children at this time, but a few are available in the By&4Kids group by clicking here.

  7. Brenda,
I just want to tell you what a great bog you have. I am not that much in to poetry or fairy tales, but you are still an awesome writer. I always appreciate your comments on my blog, too. Keep up the good work. I would love to nominate you for an award, but you already have all the ones I have EXCEPT for my newest one…

    • My what magical words to come home to. I am feeling blessed tonight. My oldest son is improving blues on the piano, my daughter is painting a portrait of her stuffed animal, my other son is learning to program an app, and we are all full of delicious chinese food. And here you have given my blog an award. Heartfelt thanks, my friend! And congrats to you. I will come and see you very soon. 🙂 Warmly, Brenda

            • If she wants, she could send a fairy tale to me, and I will look at publishing it. It would have to be friendly, though. My kids do write. My older son has had 3 poems published this year, two by winning contests, and my younger son published a story. They are both capable of telling great stories. My 4 year old daughter is pretty hilarious in her story telling. I hope you will continue to encourage your daughter.

            • Oh I definitely will keep encouraging her. I tried to tempt her into writing about her beliefs. God, hope, love, spirituality. I told her I would post on my blog. But she doesn’t seemed interested just yet. I want her to explore that topic, I think its important for her to ask these questions. I will let her know of your offer. Do you mean to publish on your blog, or consider it for a written publication?

            • On the blog. I have a B&4Kids category for stories or poems written by kids, and I only use the first name and last initial. I don’t solicit actively, though. And I only publish friendly fairy tales. 🙂 It was just a thought, no pressure.

  8. Brenda, What a lovely site. Both my daughter and son-in-law are english teachers, and my 8 yr old granddaughter is a wonderful reader. i will make them aware of your site. I wanted to visit you and again thank you for liking my post (from the shout out given by Paulette). But I would also continue to advise you to have that shortness of breath (SOB) looked into. Suffering from COPD myself, SOB is not something to take lightly. I am now off my soap box.

I wish you much success, and I will turn my daughter on to your blog. Please take care. Bill

    • I’m so happy you like my site. I hope your granddaughter likes my stories. My kids do, but of course they are biased. 🙂
I will have to look at your site more, I don’t even know what COPD is.

  9. Hi Brenda,
Thanks for visiting my Anti-Bullying and Other Topics blog. I love your blog, so creative and vibrant and imaginative. My first published children’s book was called Pod the Wood Elf and was created after a childhood of daydreaming and doodling–and I have never lost my love of the fairy realm. All the best, Margaret

      • Thanks for your interest in Pod! Unfortunately, it’s out of print, but Tiktala is available through Amazon and Chapters. It is an all-ages fairy tale, and I think you might like it! I can also mail a signed copy or copies as gifts, if you don’t mind paying postage! Also, I think you’d love my book, The Beech Nut of Big Water Beach, an anti-bullying novel. Let me know what you think. You’re doing such great things with your blog.

  11. Hi Brenda! I like your intro. Thank you for the follow.
Please be aware that my blog is a bilingual one.
So you may get links to some poems in English as well as to some in Italian…
I’m trying to keep the posting balanced between the two languages.
Today was the English one turn, ah!

    • You are very talented to be able to write poetry in two languages. My Italian is thin, but perhaps I will learn some, seeing your poetry in my reader. 🙂 Brenda

  13. Hi Brenda! I love your writing. You are so talented!
I’m here because I remember what you said about the butterflies being little messengers of our departed loved ones. I think you might be onto something, because I just had an incredible experience involving a butterfly and it reminded me of something that happened once when I was a child. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that with me, it gave me great comfort when I happened across the little butterfly (and I wrote a post about it). I can’t believe I didn’t follow you sooner!

    • Now you’ve gone and made me cry. Aw, I’m so happy for you. It always gives me comfort, too, to think of the butterflies as messengers. I truly believe it is possible to suffer great losses, still embrace your lost ones in your memory and live a happy life. Hugs to you, Brenda
