icy snowbanks
may delay growth,
but not forever

Notes: Spring is coming. I’m going in circles, not finishing anything, but daylight is longer than a month ago. January has been freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw. Just like February used to be. I’m enjoying the thaws. But I worry about the warming.
Reblogged this on By the Mighty Mumford and commented:
I’M CONCERNED THAT IF THE WARMING STARTS THE BUDS AND FLOWERS TOO SOON—RIGHT BEFORE A KILLING COLD SNAP–HARVESTS OF CERTAIN CROPS WILL BE MUCH LESS PRODUCTIVE!

That is always a worry. Yet the trees are usually good at suffering a brief cold snap.

Not going in circles forever! I have been noticing the light, too. It gives me some oooomph that I’ve been missing. I wish I could take a rest from my day jobs to just write in this time. Alas, I’m stuck with early mornings and late nights. They have become my writing friends.

That is exhausting, Linda. But we writers have to write. 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there.

I took a picture of something quite similar when I was in New York. Do you know what they are? (I tried to share my image, but wasn’t able to do so–rats!)

Maybe you should write a poem for yours. I’m not sure what they are. Not chestnut. They were too large for dogwood. I could look it up, but I’m too tired.

To google or not to google, that is the question
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to allow
the lingering question and wonder of the unknown
or to take arms against ignorance
and tapping keys, arrive at certainty
Ah, certainty, that brave and boldly struts
its knowledge upon the boards for all to see
yet snuffs out richest curiosity
To google or not to google, that is the question

Thanks, Brenda. You sent me off on a creative journey, which may evolve into my SOL post on Tuesday. Would you mind if I shared some of our conversation here and a link to your poem?

Fine with me, Molly. I’ve just spent a happy 10 minutes reading all about the sweetgum. So happy to learn a new tree. Now if my old brain will just remember it.

They are sweet gum tree seed pods, Brenda. (I opted for google!)

Gum tree! No wonder I didn’t know. I’ve never id’d a gum tree before. I will have to look it up, too. 🙂
