Leaves aflame
set my heart afire
with thanks
Notes: This photograph was taken by me at Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary on a recent family hike. I added words with Canva, a photo design tool. I retyped them below because screen readers for the visually-impaired cannot read words inserted in jpegs. I was inspired to write and create by Carol Varsalona, an ambassador for poetry, who is currently collecting poetry for her Autumnventure gallery. I found Carol through Poetry Friday, where poets, teachers and poetry-lovers gather weekly to share and celebrate poetry. You can find this image on twitter at https://twitter.com/BrendaDHarsham.

Isn’t it? We love it there. Lots of wildlife, lots of wildflowers, and amazing trees in the fall.

After a long drought, a very dry lake. So sad to see how low the water was.

It looked filled to me but you were there!

I’ve seen it in previous years. Those mudflats are normally covered with water, that’s why it doesn’t have thick swamp vegetation.

I tried to use picmonkey, but I couldn’t get it to work. Canva was very easy. Easier than powerpoint, which is what I’d been using.

Thank you! I can’t take credit for the landscape, because Broadmoor is a beautiful place, but I will take credit for the photo and poem! 🙂
