When autumn rain pounds
and frost wilts the stems,
I want to snap like a dragon,
but I hold up my head
and dream like a flower.

Notes: Snapdragons are fascinating flowers. I used to snap them as a child, yanking down their beards to have them snap back into place. These days, I just snap pictures. This one is from summer, but I can’t keep autumn out of my poem, now that daylight is short and the weather has turned cold. No time for more chat, as I have to revise a story before sprinting to my car and driving to the office.
WELL—I’ll not call it “chasing”, but I missed your wisdom and photo-poetic company! 🙂

Thanks, Jonathan! It’s a good day for poetry — too much gray skies and rain.

All that power is locked into our synapses. Truly amazing. Nice to see you again, friend.

Teehee. We are in the middle of a spring storm which just happened to snap off one of my beautiful snapdragon stems. I was able to rescue it and place it in a vase where it is giving us all much pleasure. Snapdragons are lovely, as is your poem.

They are such a complicated flower. So amazing up close. Georgia O’Keeffe was so smart to look so closely at flowers.

Oooh I love this one – it’s very relatable! And not just because I love to make snap dragons talk in the Spring 🙂

🙂 Life is better if you can be silly in the spring.

I used to press on either side of the flower, you can get the mouthes to open and close depending on the pressure you used.

Yes, or you can pull the beard and make it talk. 🙂
