tiny shoots
break the brown earth,
rabbits are glad
tiny shoots of gladness
tickle my wintery skin

Notes: Happy Nearly Spring! This poem is a tanka. Did my poem surprise you?
Writing Tip: A Tanka is a Japanese poetry form that has five lines with syllable counts per line of 5, 7, 5, 7, and 7. In another way of thinking of it, a Tanka is a haiku with two seven-syllable lines added as a second stanza. Some find the syllable counts are maximums not goals. The third line is intended to be a surprise or a turning point, a pivot, about which the meaning of the poem turns or changes.

Lots of great advice there. I’m fond of a green smoothie with a bit of ginger in it.

what a lovely flower! What is this flower? The blue color is like the dye color our local florists here spray on white mums or chrysanthemums. I love the blue color and am intrigued as to what flower this is!

Scilla is one of the first flowers to bloom. One of my neighbors has a whole swath of lawn interplanted with scilla, and it’s enough to stop by heart. Right now we still have snow. This is an old photo. 🙂

Yes, this is an old photo, but I was in the mood to visit spring, in the virtual world if no where else. 🙂

I was wondering how your scilla was out, especially as we have quite a bit of snow cover still. Soon, though…

I’m afraid we don’t, not yet. I was dreaming of spring. Thursday, I’ll put up a post that actually reflects what New England is looking like. I wanted to dream about spring today, though, given it’s almost spring.
