Under a Tree

orchestra of color
before the first flower blooms —
a rainbow of chairs

Notes: Finding color in early spring can be a challenge — unless an odd grouping of chairs appears where you least expect it — the Jackson Homestead in Newton, MA. I took this photo (years ago) originally because of the odd circle of colorful chairs. I puzzled over it. Who painted the chairs and grouped them into a rainbow? Why circle them under a tree? A riddle haiku seemed like the right poetic form for such a magical grouping.
