Little Lions

Notes: Long time, no post. Madly busy trying to figure out what my kids’ schools are doing, doom-scrolling as if the world depends on my knowing what’s happening, celebrating each step of my new kitchen, and staying positive while job hunting. Hope everyone is well or as well as they can be. I’m still finding magic among the other tasks of each crazy day. I’m reading The Origin of Others by Toni Morrison, and it’s helping me realize that part of white privilege is not having to think about race issues in my day-to-day life. That right there is an immense privilege. These are hard topics. I am reminded that I don’t know enough, despite my lifetime of curiosity and endless reading. There is always more to learn. That is its own kind of magic.

    But if race issues exist elsewhere, should you with your privilege not try and throw light about what might be the way forward?

  7. A new kitchen…how wonderful. School…confusing and scary. Job hunting? What happened? Reading and learning…a life long joy. Your posts…too few but wonderful to see…always. 🙂 Hang in there, my friend and post pictures of your new kitchen when you can. Beautiful flowers.

    • The kitchen would be done by now if it weren’t for covid — waiting for this and that. The contractor, plumber and electrician are all excellent. Counters get install tomorrow, unless some catastrophe happens. Shouldn’t be too long after that. As for knowing my knowledge is limited — I agree that being open to learning more is a blessing indeed. I wish more people realized it’s a blessing. Knowledge you’ve worked to acquire is more valuable by far than just opining based on a lack of education and reading. I’m always baffled by how people will assert something, but if you question it — they aren’t excited to discuss it, they are angry at being doubted. That isn’t how I’m wired. I have to question and think and ruminate to make the best decision I can.
