Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams fade
Life is a silent symphony
That cannot be played.

Notes: This is my first post inspired by this long summer spent at home. Reflecting on great American artists, poets and thinkers in between painting my garage and laundry room, clearing out my closet and attic, and keeping my family in food and good health.
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
— Langston Hughes (the poem entitled Dreams)

I’ve always loved the inspiring Hughes’ poem and enjoy how you created your own spin on it. It sure sounds like your summer has been busy. You’re reminding me about many unstarted sorting, cleaning, and painting projects around my house!

We are having to access more of our neglected spaces because our kitchen died. We have to move out of it. (cue the groans)

So sorry to hear about your kitchen’s demise. I’m sure you were very close. May your new kitchen be just as well loved.

We were very close. Now we are approaching our final days together, but we’re all super excited for the new kitchen.

We need pictures of the new kitchen so we can rejoice with you over you newest family addition.
But please drop me a note so I don’t miss the posting. ;0)

That poem by Langston Hughes is one of my favorites. Memorized those first few lines when I was in college. Your version about life is just as nice and I love your photo.
