Springiest of Springs

a few bobs of a daffodil’s head —
my spirits rise with
a spring in each step

Notes: Time for my yearly daffodil post — the days are longer and my spirits are lifting despite my long confinement. If daffodils put you in the mood for Wordsworth, I offer that, too, but here is some Milne, with my favorite title ever.

Daffodowndilly

by A.A. Milne

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
“Winter is dead.”
