Looking Long

Looking long
at another’s days —
so different,
and free.

But is the other
discontented —
looking with longing
at me?

Notes: Our choices and decisions slowly confine and define us. Other people’s lives seem more free, but perhaps they feel as constrained as we do. Is that state of discontent the fuel that drives our engines? Maybe even the butterfly feels an insatiable drive for more, better, best.

Happy Poetry Friday and thanks to Catherine at Reading to the Core for hosting!
