Being Smaller

reminded of my size
by a nearby butterfly,

Notes: I remember when my legs dangled from chairs, feet in mid-air, when grownups were giants, and when I believed that as long as I couldn’t see someone, they couldn’t see me. Then I grew up and realized no one is looking anyway. Except for those who are smaller than us — be kind to those smaller than you — because they are the ones that truly see you.

Happy Poetry Friday and thanks to Cheriee Weichel at Library Matters for hosting!
