on spring’s threshold,
every plant imagines itself green,
I admire their brown
Copyright 2019 Brenda Davis Harsham
Notes: That brief time before the leaves open has its own beauty, when the brown of stem, stalk and trunk is shining.
I went to see the 2Cellos play over the weekend. They were a delight — funny, talented and full of joy.
Happy Poetry Friday! Thanks to Karen Edmisten for hosting!

Me too—Our daffodils in front of our building are very near bursting forth! 🙂

It is still very brown here–I love that your poem admires that (even while I am with the plants, imagining green.)

There something so elegant about a tree in bud, a glistening brown doe of a tree.

Wow Brenda, 2Cellos is fantastic! You know browns and greens go together– I like them both and your poem and striking sunlit image!

On the threshold of green is exactly where we are in PA. Maine is a bit behind here. But still a threshold, and indeed it is really it’s own special time!

Lovely poem, Brenda. I know everyone likes a tree full of leaves, but I am waiting patiently for the red buds on our trees. To me, the budding is the most beautiful.

I love the contrast, too, Brenda and am happy that you’ve focuses on it. Your picture is lovely, wishing I had such a creek nearby!

We have great wetlands all around us. I do feel lucky about that.
