rhododendrons doze
as late leaves burn
inside fallen stars

Notes: To the naturalists, this photo is not of a rhododendron, but I used my artistic license. Happy Poetry Friday! Thanks to Tara Smith at Going to Walden for hosting!

Fallen stars, the burn of the cold…powerful images. Our winter is disappointing too.

It finally snowed, and ice coated all the trees in CT when we drove though. The sunshine turned the ice into diamonds. Very beautiful, but so COLD!

Lovely “fallen” ice crystal “stars” Brenda, I captured some yesterday on my window pane. Helps to see the beauty in this deep cold.

My kids are disappointed by this winter, so far. No snow days. No sledding. No skiing. There’s still time, but it’s mostly been too warm.

Come visit Chicago—we have snow and the kids will probably get a day off school this week due to the sub-zero temps, buurr… 🥶😉

I don’t miss the snow at all. 🙂

Nice switch to turn the burn of stars into the burn of the cold! Hope you are doing well 🙂

Thanks, Tabatha. The days go by too fast now that’s I’m working full-time for a hectic job. My writing energy is going into my job and not my writing career, which makes me sad. I hope you’re well.

The foliage may not be rhododendron but the feeling is definitely achieved! Well done.

Gorgeous poem to pair with this gorgeous photo. I hadn’t thought about the snowflakes as falling stars. It’s such a beautiful image.
