Finds tongues in trees, books in running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in everything.
— William Shakespeare
Warning, more geekery here! I was fascinated to read Ada Byron Lovelace and the Thinking Machine, by Laurie Wallmark, illustrated by April Chu, Creston Books, 2015. It confirms what I’ve always suspected: Girls Rock!!
Ada Byron Lovelace:
- loved math as much as her famous dad, Lord Byron, loved poetry;
- wrote the first computer program in the world, before computers even existed; and
- even though she was unable to test it, it only had one error!
Notes: I have engineers, mathematicians and software developers in my family. Some male and some female. This book just makes me grin with happiness, despite having chosen a life submerged in poetry and words. Have a magical week!
Fascinating… A love post.

She’s a fascinating person. Enchantress of Numbers sounds like a good read. Ada Lovelace appears in Victoria and Albert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6Ad2npBaPA but the appearance is fictionalized.

Her mother was related to Henry VII. Byron was a lord as well.

I’m reading another Lovelace book for an older audience, Enchantress of Numbers by Jennifer Chiaverini.

Having a famous father helped her, no doubt. We should all be so lucky.
