be the flower
growing in dry spaces,
roots dug deep
sun, rain and spring
will bring blooms, one day

Notes: Happy Poetry Friday tomorrow and thanks to Michelle Kogan for hosting.
Happy Summer Solstice! Summer is helping me not be discouraged by setbacks, fear and impatience. I’m letting my deep roots hold me firm. May you find magic between a rock and a hard place, a foothold for blooming and your inner resilience, too.
Sweet words and a lovely metaphor.

Gorgeous poem and photo, Brenda. We have a front-garden carpet of purple phlox in the spring — my favorite floral event of the year.

Love when the phlox blooms. 🙂

Be the flower! Love that. We all need to be the flower in each other’s windows.

I agree, Margaret. We all need to hold together for each other.

Sending armfuls of flowers to raise your spirits up my dear friend Brenda, and thoughts for your eyes to soon recover. A lovely poem you’ve penned to share with us, and flowers too, xox!

I’ve been speechless with tearful horror and bad memories for most of it. But hope is the best medicine.

LOVE THE POEM, PICTURE AND FINAL COMMENTARY! ME KNOWS ABOUT THE ROCK AND HARD PLACES—WORSE WHEN THEY BEGIN MOVING CLOSER TOGETHER! BENEATH THE ROCKS IS SOIL—MAY YOUR ROOTS REACH IT AND HOLD ON TIGHT! (ME, ALSO, BRENDA!)

I hope your roots hold tight, too, my friend.

Your poem offers up hope in a rocky time. May we all grow deep roots to be able to bloom in difficult places.

My eye infection just will not go away. It’s starting to look like eye surgery will be required. 😦

Happy Summer, Brenda! “sun, rain and spring” is just the prescription for us all. Such a week!

The world has gone mad, it feels like. The rain is more like tears. But spring will come, and eventually the courts will act.

The dry area in need of bloom is where I’m at this week, Brenda. Appreciations for this validation. The photo is a beautiful blue drink of wonder.

I love this….sometimes, this flower feels wilted. What a week. But, thank goodness for the flowers, especially here.
