a lone tulip
in a sea of blooming phlox,
the writing life
Copyright 2018 Brenda Davis Harsham
Notes: I’m becoming a hermit, holed up, obsessing over words and commas. I prefer to think of myself as the tulip, poised to bloom, rather than last year’s leaf, shriveled and wrinkled. 🙂
Beautiful poem! I love it! (I obsess over words and commas too. It must be a writer thing. :p)

I like the minimalism of the piece. My poetry is always so wordy, maybe I’ll try something like this.

I’m trying to go shorter, too. It helps me pare down to the essence.

Yes, true. Important to stay connected, even though so much time is spent alone.

Thanks! I wish I spoke more languages. I am sadly limited to English and a few words of several other. Me gusta poesÃa.

I wonder if perhaps I should publish the English interpretation of each poem. The only reason I haven’t been doing so is that translation is actually much harder work than I thought! Cheers, and happy writing.

Translating poetry might be harder than writing it in one’s native language, although I don’t have the skills for it.
