Water Ways

Layer of ice over brown grass

atrium of ice
over a grassy kingdom
until rain comes

Notes: Water has a way about it. So many shapes it takes. This photo I took yesterday reveals the way the snow and freezing rain had formed a lacy layer over the brown grass. I imagine that the darker world below was teeming with earthworms, beetles and snails dining on dandelions and sprouting seeds. Today, the icy atrium is gone, taken by new rain. The brown grass keeps its secrets.

  1. I really like this picture; I spent some time zooming in and around to fully appreciate the details, and your reflective words lingered. Thanks for capturing it; I rather miss the beauty that can be found in snowy and icy landscapes.
