Lights in a Storm

When storms churn surf
and flood waters rise,
beacons of light
are as vital as breath.

Notes: In times of trouble, we need great voices to give us hope and direction. If we cannot find that from present leaders, at least we have the comfort of knowing that past leaders have left footsteps for us to follow.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

Writing Tip: With this post, I’ve reached the 1,000th mile-marker on Friendly Fairy Tales over nearly five years of blogging. I have almost 8,000 followers and over 170,000 views. Weird, when I didn’t set out to blog at all. I merely wanted to put my fairy tales in a place where my relatives could find them. Here I am, all these years later, still with more to say. (Those who know me well probably wouldn’t be surprised.) For writers and potential writers, that is how a writing career starts. One decision at a time.
