Mermaid Jewel

mermaids
wish upon pearls
that shine so bright

Notes: “I know it is the sun that shines so bright.” Kate says this in the Taming of the Shrew, by Shakespeare. To be heard, each word, that is my wish for my daughter.

I took this photograph in a shop near the Monterey Aquarium, filled with shells and magic. A place that hears dreams.

  4. What a lovely photograph Brenda….and a sweet little poem to accompany it! I love how her scales reflect light so brilliantly…how she sweetly stares at her pearl, as if it is the most beautiful sight she has ever seen and her smile looks so content…

  5. Ah, now you have created a magic memory in me. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a mermaid. When I took a bath, I would twist my legs into a tail. I would swim, swim and swim until the water was cold. ❤
