Sleeping Magic

Art Dress La Esencia de Titania designed and created by Resa McConaghy

Like cicadas at summer’s end,
a fairy queen’s shell lingers, iridescent, glowing,
with traces of sleeping magic.

A wizard king can wake the dreamer
if he believes
in her magic, if he sees into her heart,

if he carries his power
lightly, gently, and with deepest respect
for the fragility of hers.

Day 15 of NaNoWriMo: still on track. My new story is sparking with magic and brimming with villains. Have a magical week!

  1. I feature work from fellow artists and writers at my blog, Between the Lines. This month’s theme is ‘Magic’ and I’d love to include your poem. May I reblog this?

  2. Reblogged this on Art Gowns and commented:
Happy Thanksgiving to Brenda & all of my American friends here on WordPress! Friendly Fairy Tales inspired “La Esencia de Titania”, and she in turn has inspired “Sleeping Magic”.
    It’s a wonderful thing!
