Gratitude for Messy

One orange ranunculus with white hydrandgea

Gratitude for messy moments,
with their lively, unstudied drama.

Gratitude for the fragrant earth with
its briars, weeds and teeming life.

Gratitude for hope that carried
my ancestors to a better life.

Gratitude for my family who laugh,
love, hug, support and deflate each other.

If we can find value in each other,
we will all be much happier.

Elizabeth Gilbert: "Embrace the glorious mess that you are."

A poem found in Cindy Knoke’s words:

When we value others,
we are valuing that
which is beautiful
in ourselves.
Everyone
is better for it. ❤

Notes: This post was inspired (and requested) by Cindy Knoke from an exchange we had in the comments of her recent post. Thanks to Cindy for her keen eye, gorgeous photos and generous wisdom. May she always find the beautiful everywhere.

  2. I do have a knack for finding the beautiful. It is how I found you. You with the beautiful heart and soul and mind. I am so lucky I blog because I get to know people like you. Long may you create my dear friend Brenda.

    • You are lovely, my friend. What ego-stroking words to wake and read. 🙂 I may smile my way through my whole day. I hope our words make it out into the larger world and do some good. I hope you smile all day, wherever your wandering feet take you.

  3. A wonderful poem, Brenda! Cindy is an inspirational person, as are you. The two of you have made a fabulous collaboration. This poem comes to me at an interesting time in my life. Thank you…. both! XOXO

  4. Beautiful poem. Loved this one.💙
Gratitude fills every one with optimism and helps us in moving from ‘I’ to ‘we’, making us less self centred.
