Knee deep in cold white,
wet pant legs an icy fright,
freezing rain damping hair,
slipping on ice — a scare!
Strange snow on the bench,
two mounds and a trench.
Must’ve been a wild storm,
to make this weird camel form.
So wild that my trouble is double
as I shovel, shovel, shovel.

Notes: More snow fell last night. February is making up for January’s parsimony. Meanwhile, I turn to poetry to keep me warm. Happy Poetry Friday! Thanks to Jone at Check it Out for hosting!
Great poem, Brenda, love it!

Thanks! I hear another nor’easter might be coming. I might be knee deep again before spring has knocked winter out of the ring.

Yes, we seem to always get one more wintery hit.

This made my small amount of snow “feel” like a sprinkle compared to a torrential rain, Brenda. This idea of a camel made me smile but the shoveling made me “wince” in sympathy.

I’m truly lucky on the shoveling front, since my hubby and two teenaged boys do most of it. Although, this year, my hubby fell and hurt his shoulder on the ice. 😦

Love, love, love this poem about snow. And I love the word parsimony. The snow camels, what if they were real?

For you, surely the camel was real. A camel of snow, wind and faith. 🙂

Shovel, shovel, toil and trouble
Back aches and baths bubble.
Soon, spring comes!

I’m longing for spring. But I was glad to see a bit of the white. 🙂

It’s been so long since I shoveled anything white and fluffy. I know you’re sick of it by now, but it’s still a pretty sight on my screen, camel humps and all.

I am ready for Spring, and it’s only mid-February. I should move back to NC. I like the climate there much better. 🙂

“Must’ve been a wild storm,

It is so original that you mentioned camels in the snow… Such an interesting conjunction of climatic diversity. 😉
Great poem, Bren!… Love & best wishes! 😀 ❤

I can’t believe all the snow people in the Northeast have been having. We have had a really mild winter. I have only shoveled three or four times and it’s been seventy several days this week. Crazy!

Weird weather is part of living in New England. Might be 80 in a few weeks or we might get 30 inches of snow. We roll with it. 🙂

Snow camel – ha! Thanks for sharing, Brenda, and wish I could share some of our mild temps with you today – I’ve got the front door cracked and it’s nearing 70. No camels here, but lots of squirrels.

70, wow. It’s sunny here. That counts.

I too, had three snow days! “slipping on ice — a scare!” is real for me, too. Several years back my chiropractor sold Yaktrax Walk and I bought a pair. I swear by them. (It makes me feel less like an old lady afraid to go outside in the winter.)

I love Yaktrax, too! I don’t always put them on because it’s like balancing on toothpicks sometimes.

We have yet to see a measurable snow so seeing this picture makes me envious of all things snowy and warm and poetic!

Warm might be the wrong word for that picture. *Laughing* 🙂 The snow is fun, though, I admit.

Love it, Brenda! You are able to find any detail and turn it into poetry. And, a camel in the snow? A hoot! My weekend is just not complete without a check in to see what you are up to. Have a great week.

I hope so! I hope we don’t get ice dams this year. I could do without having to fix walls and repainting.

Brenda, this is a delightful poem with wonderful rhyme that keeps the reader engaged. That camel hump line is a good one and fits the image so well. I have never seen animals in snow so you brought me my first. How about combining this into an image poem for my winter gallery?

If I have time, I will. I sent you a poem for your gallery already, if my memory is right. So many projects! The kids are off next week. Woo-hoo!

You did send me one already. If you want you can just send me this photo but I do like the poem that accompanies it.

One snow like this all winter this year where I am in the Driftless Region (where tomorrow it will be 50 degrees)… but I’m ruling out nothing (including camels) in weeks to come… 🙂

One shouldn’t rule out camels. LOL Hope you are warm and safe if camels are involved.
