mosquito-eating dragon,
autumnal dragonfly dreams in
lacy-winged stillness

Notes: Happy Thanksgiving to all in the USA! To me, this holiday is an opportunity to express gratitude for a beautiful land that has supported and provided sanctuary to my ancestors and I. Ruth in Poetry Friday teaches odes to ordinary objects for Thanksgiving. A simple, but elegant idea that I’ve adopted, to bring the holiday away from turkey, food and feasting, and return it to gratitude for the tiniest things. This ode is in the haiku form.
Happy Poetry Friday! Thanks to Carol at Carol’s Corner for hosting this week! Carol is reading novels in verse. Stop by and join the party!
Wonderful picture Brenda, such a perfect capture!!!! 😀

Hi Brenda! Dragonflies and damselflies are beautiful, aren’t they? (Maybe your photo is of a damselfly? I can’t remember the exact difference.) Any day is a good day to be grateful 🙂

I think my dragonfly is a red darter, and a dragonfly. We weren’t properly introduced, so one cannot be too sure of his family connections. 😉

Thanks for reading. Dragonflies have such serenity in the fall.

I’ve never noticed the way in which a dragonflies wings join onto its body. It doesn’t look as I’d always imagined.

You don’t have dragonflies? I quite take them for granted and never realized I do.

Thanks, me, too. I love to see them buzzing around me in the summer. In the fall, they hardly move at all, so tired, so valiant. Deserving their rest. 🙂
