Tree Pose

img_5321

I dig my toes into the carpet
like tree roots.
My spine lifts and lengthens
like a supple autumn trunk,
limbs hanging like colorful leaves.

The focus I need for
tree pose brings me peace but
makes me sway
and dance as if in a
hurricane wind.

Note: After six surgeries, my balance is returning slowly. Yoga helps. I don’t give up. Maybe someday my tree pose will be as beautiful as this maple. I’ve been slow to visit blogs because my back trouble is back, with a vengeance, and it’s become hard to type again. I hope to stop by and see you soon, though. Have a magical week everyone!

  1. I like your poetry. I am glad you are back on track (with your yoga routine). I am an new blogger. I am glad that there is an opportunity to share one’s experiences and interests with people of the same interests. I have an Instagram account (evaisco) and a Facebook page (Wise Living), as well as YouTube posts where I share my accomplishments and successes in fitness, and healthy living. I started meditating around 8 years ago. I read and studied many different schools and techniques, and I do practice mindfulness and pranayama. I practice yoga daily for half a year, and cooking vegetarian and vegan dishes. On my new blog I am sharing all this experience with everyone. I hope you can follow and find my articles honest and interesting. Thank you, and good luck.

  2. You might remember I have some serious balance issues from MS but yoga has helped so much. Tree pose is still really hard for me, but I keep at it — I will think of this poem next time I’m resisting the hurricane! 🙂

  3. I’m sorry to hear that you back is bothering you again. I hope you find a way to be comfortable soon. It’s hard to focus on anything when you’re in pain. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Brenda.

  4. I am sorry to learn of the struggles you have had with your back . You are such a courageous lady! My son had to have two disks replaced on his neck due to a football accident. It is a very difficult and frightening thing to go through. Take care and be well. Your attitude is so fantastic it inspires me.

  5. I am sorry to hear this about your pain. I am not sure if hearing a story about another back pain sufferer helps. . .
Sometimes my friend, Bill, has had those back surgeries which are conducted within an hour and released to home, probably five specifically aimed at certain vertebrae. He is brave but still works at the warehouse which cannot help him stay strong.

Hugs to all who live with daily chronic pain, especially BIG ones sent to you, dear friend. ❤ I am handing out roses today, one is saved for you. . . Just a shout out and no need to respond. ❤
