At dawn, rain started
with a few quiet drops,
like the whisper of dandelion
seeds, sticky with wishes.
The brown, brittle grass drank.
Tall trees bent in thanks,
leaves glittering with diamonds.
Drought has made rain
more precious than sunshine.
Even weeds sigh with relief.
Cool breezes tease flowers,
drawing galaxies of laughter.
A full day’s soaking brings
a stained-glass magic to
a dry garden, where light shines
through every color and tint
transcending trouble,
crowning patience.

Note: We had rain after a long drought. Life is good. Hope everyone has a magical week, full of fun, rain or sun.
Rain is always lovely but particularly so, through your layered and luscious descriptions, Brenda. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this on my post, Brenda. You’ve shown what I’m writing about exactly. I love “Tall trees bent in thanks”. When it rains here I always think how grateful the trees must be.

I’m glad you liked it, Linda. Yours reminded me of struggling to say those same things. I loved that you brought a child into the feelings a longed-for rain bring.

I’m smiling thinking of those weeds sighing with relief, and a glistening garden – beautiful thoughts!! 😀 If humans feel relieved when it finally rains, I’m sure the plants must be ecstatic!

I’m sure that the day after the rain, they must feel rejuvenated and full of joy. They shine with it.

Sounds lovely to have gentle summer rain. Down here we are having rain that comes in sounding more like storm troopers 🙂

We did have more driving rain later in the day, and I was grateful for that, too. After a drought, those first few drops are so eagerly awaited. 🙂
