How do trees feel
in the moment
they flower?
Buds burst open and
reveal their secret colors
for a brief moment
each spring.
Do they worry that someone
won’t like the color
or that their blooms
will be too small or too big?
Do they worry
that the birds will laugh?
Or do they just risk it all
with sublime confidence
that this is what
they are made for?
How do they know?
Is it better to doubt
and overcome
or to never doubt at all?
Just bloom.

I like your thought Brenda! 🙂 It’s something I have wondered at times. It would be very strange if flowers were as anxious as we are about so many irrelevant things. Perhaps we have too many choices, and that causes us to over think, and doubt creeps in. Flowers leave a feeling of stillness. If only we could find that too.

I never have time to look for it, except when a poem is blossoming. Then the stillness is the muse.

The old embroidered or needle-pointed quote comes to mind: “Bloom where you are planted.” Hugs, Robin

Trees bloom with utter abandon without reflection of their amazing influence on the rest of the world. Rather like yourself. Miss Brenda.

Ah but to be human is much more difficult … sometimes we have doubts and insecurities that aren’t easy to overcome … if only we could be confident like trees and not care what people think … those are great qualities to emulate indeed. 🙂

Yes, it’s worth striving for. Fear is insidious and destructive.
