The first petal falls
without a sound
on a day
like any other.
The whole ballet
trembles
in time
without a
single
misstep
bending
swaying
except for
the roots
the anchor,
that stretch
and hold firm.
Rain thunders
the next day,
leaving stems
naked.
Divas are shorn,
tulip-torn,
forlorn
until next spring,
when they are reborn.

Note: My hubby’s had his birthday (Happy Birthday if you’re reading!), and the whole house smells of cake, balloons and leftover dumplings and chicken with orange flavor. My memory frames and retains good moments, but I can’t help knowing that another petal has fallen.
Are the petals falling already?!! I like the way you’ve described the flowers as divas…I think they just might be…outdoing each other! 😉
A house that SMELLS OF CAKE…..yay!!! 😀 My favourite kind of home!

My family too, one more birthday to go now, then none until October. Then I can stop spinning, sit down and have a rest! 😀

Us, too. October is next. 🙂

Tulip torn truly is forlorn, Brenda. This helps us appreciate how tender and fragile some of Spring’s flowers are. This is like the rain helps us value the sunny skies! 🙂

This year the spring is too fleeting for me. I’m spending too much time shut up in my chair and not enough time out there. 🙂

I was sorry you were ill, along with sore body parts, Brenda. Get well, be healed and sending wishes upwards. ❤

All better now. Even my knees have mostly stopped aching.

So lovely! I’m planting a bunch of tulips this fall and I can’t wait. I found a great online site selling them and I’m so excited. I don’t know where to put them all, but I’ve got lots of time to figure it out. Great photo!

Thanks! I love tulips. Thanks for all the likes. I tried to reply with thanks to a previous comment of yours on my dandelion post, but somehow I trashed it. I have no idea how. The mysteries of WP. Sorry about that, but I did appreciate it!

My neighbor has a hundred. Very impressive when they bloom.

They do go so fast 😦 I’m glad I made it out to see them this year. So beautiful when they are all out.

Yep. Wish they last a bit longer. I could say that about a lot of things. Like chocolate bars. Cake. Great books.

Thank you! sorry it took so long to reply. Your comment went to spam. Weird that I even saw it because I usually just delete spam, but something made me look though them today.
