The sun’s fierce glow
seeps
around and between,
backlighting and
highlighting.
Washington, DC
is a place of
monumental undertakings
and memories.
A place of sky blue,
dreaming of the past
and the future,
softened by blooms
and river breezes.

Note: Cherries are blooming, but the National Mall is bulldozed into dust clouds behind an endless wall of chain link fencing. Crossing from the Museum of Natural History to the Smithsonian castle is usually just a matter of crossing the green space, but instead, it’s blocked by endless fencing. Our taxi driver informed us that they intend putting in grass from outer space that will be green even in winter. Magic is alive and well.
Have a great rest of the week!
Warmly,
Brenda
The Smithsonian is my favorite part of Wash DC, Brenda. The historical elements, clothing, everyday items, documents and all sorts of exhibits are all amazing. I think it took us two days to see it all. Sorry to hear of obstacles outdoors in the grassy mall area. Enjoy and sink into the places. 🙂

Beautiful. They had that section of the Mall dug up last June – I guess we have the lowest bidder at work 🙂

Ugh. It was sure dust-bowl ugly, and a long nuisance to get around.

People seem on a mission here. Very purposeful and serious. Not very Boston.

Boston does have a State House. But you are right…it’s a different spirit. I still say certain people in Washington ACT LIKE and therefore are knuckleheads! 😀

Mmm, yet they are people, and I am loathe to name call. I try not to judge. Even people in Washington. It’s so easy to be found wanting in this life. Imperfect as we all are.
