One last effort to
find the shore
before the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge,
we turn toward
Cape Charles.
Two miles. What will we find?
A longer trip, for one.
Luck is in,
seagulls ank-ank-anking.
Fine sand is confetti
in my daughter’s hands.
Dunes have tried to
retake the boardwalk, but
we sink our feet in,
wobbling at the knee.
Sun burns our
pale winter flesh
to tourist-pink.
The water is still,
the horizon vast,
and our worries are gone.

I wish I was there, sounds wonderful Brenda! 😀 And what a beautiful looking beach you’ve captured! Reminds me of one in Norfolk called Holkham Beach. I think your sand is a little paler – gorgeous. It’s the only beach I’ve come across in the UK that looks like it’s in France. I found even Spain had some pretty grey ugly beaches – good job I didn’t go all that way for the golden sands! 😐 I hope you’re all having a great time?!!

We had a great time. Sadly, we’re home again after a brutal 12 hour drive. 😦

A perfect outing…. Camus believed the sea was a symbol of Infinity… I also think that certain moments contain that feeling somehow… Even if it might sound paradoxical, they are simple moments like a day out in the beach.
The three last verses sum it up perfectly… Beautiful, dear friend… All my best wishes. Aquileana ⭐

Yes, we humans concentrate too much on the finite and miss out on the infinite. 🙂

I’m allergic to chlorine. No pools. It’s tragic.

LOL I am also allergic to chlorine. My skin is hyper-sensitive. My friends call me a real life Dark Fey LOL 🙂

It’s beautiful here, David. Felt warm enough to swim, but we would have had an explosion of luggage. 🙂
