Mushroom smiles,
arms akimbo,
for a mushroom hug.
Hey, don’t shrug!
Really.
It’s a mushroom hug.
Can’t see it?
Don’t throw a fit.
Smile wide as me,
and you’ll see it,
lickety-split.

Note: I hope you see the hug, same as me. 🙂 My rhyme is disorganized, perhaps I should call this rhyming ADD. My words have executive function issues, but as my eldest would say, Who cares? It’s a brave new world of “whatever works.” But does it work? Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Anything that includes a hug is all goooood! 😉

Sorry to hear you had a pretty bad cold, Brenda.
I like the “arms akimbo,” especially. I write disjointed or “ADD” as you describe it. Sometimes I feel like I am taking notes, just a “skeleton” of the original way I would have expressed myself. 🙂

I think of it as boiling a thought down to its barest essentials, leaving room for the reader to bring their own experience and meet me halfway. I always feel joy when someone comments with the thoughts that I had that underlaid the poem. Then I know I left the right things there. I think of it as bouillon and you think of it as bones. I think we are in agreement.

“Bouillon” is a great way of starting a pot of stone soup. 🙂 Out of nearly “nothing” a feast may be produced while my “bones” are bare and need so much to elaborate. . . meeting of the minds, 🙂

Has a tint of Dr. Seuss to it. I love it.

It works better when it’s not consistent. It gives the work a ‘voice.’ Bringing out your uniqueness.

Yes I totally can see it!
And yes, the poem works because it is fun and it definitely fits a mushroom hug 🙂
A fun rhyme for a fungi what could be better?
No apology necessary when you make us smile.

You enjoy yours, too! I watched an old Bogart movie tonight, Beat the Devil. It was a fun activity while my nose dripped.
