Green leaves entrance,
make my feet dance
down pathways
through wildflowers
into secret glades,
surrounded by
silent sentinels:
pine, oak and spruce.
The hum of crickets
finds me where I hide
but no other person does.
In that loud silence,
full of ducks quacking,
geese honking,
bees buzzing,
and mosquitoes hunting,
one yellow leaf falls.
Even the crickets pause
in shocked wonder.
Clouds thicken and churn,
rain slashes and dashes,
the sky’s anger interconnected,
a reflection of us all.
The coming of autumn
is part of summer,
as sunset is part of day.

The trees as sentinels keep watch as you enter nature in all its glory, Brenda. Yes to green and hold on to warmth, sunshine, full sturgeon moon and slow down. One yellow leaf but not any big leaf piles . . . Yet! 🙂

I had dome time with grandsons and although hated to not head North yo Mom, I was content with texts and photos if her progress. Oldest daughter had me watching Sky snd Micah. We went to pool during day and into the night to see the large looming moon. I told them about if my Dad were around how they would have Bern out on a rowboat, lantern turned off in middle of Lake Erie checking out the Full Sturgeon Moon. We then had to look up what this large fish looks like! 🙂

I got the sense of beautiful solitude but surrounded by nature. You’re not really alone then, but can find such solace. Beautiful.

Life is everywhere. It’s a beautiful truth. I’ll think about your email. I am doomed to have to go to the RMV. Until that is done, I can’t think about new ventures. 🙂

Thanks! I’ve been staying with my parents, who are in their 70’s, and it made me think of how interconnected we all are to each other and the earth itself. The thought of my parent’s autumn makes me feel angry and helpless, but joyful, too. It’s a mystery. Thanks for commenting.
