Fallen forsythia sunshine lines my path.
I linger in a bower circled by giant phlox.
Lady Spring casts her spell,
A come-hither invitation to embrace
The wind, scented with lilacs and irises.
Cottonwood fluff tangles in my hair.
Inchworms pulse on invisible silk.
Grass stalks tickle my ankles.
Dandelions smile at bluejays.
Swallows skim empty soccer fields.
Dogs woof and chase squirrels.
Maple leaves dapple the forest path,
Insects munch and rabbits lunch,
But azaleas steal the show.

Thanks, Matt. I used to hate spring, but I have learned to love it. It’s magic that renewal comes so regularly to the earth, just by its place in space. There’s something to be learned there.

Somehow it’s easier to focus on one bit of it at a time, but This year it’s all coming so fast, I had to feast on it.

We are having a short spring with everything in bloom simultaneously, I assume because spring was so late this year. Usually events are more spread out, and the forsythia blooms would be long gone by the time the irises bloom.

Ours came fast and furious too but there was a little spacing between the varieties. Have a great weekend Brenda.

Wonderful morning walk sharing your delights Brenda.. Our azalea’s are now nearly all fallen.. the high winds we have had have been blowing blossoms from the trees, a true fairy land of petalled snow.. 🙂
Wishing you a peaceful delightful weekend also..

The air here is rich with pollen, plant particles and possibilities. I’m amazed I’m not coughing, like so many others. I’m just happy to not be shoveling snow!

My poor son’s nose is running constantly. I’m okay, though, despite the cottonwood fluff looking like snow, blanketing the ground and pond.

🙂 I wish I could have gotten a picture of the whole bush. It was taller than me and glowed a violent pink, but only closeups of the blooms came out well.
