Lilies of the Valley
Was the scent my grandmother wore.
Her warm hugging arms filled me with
Boundless approval.
The tiny white bells
Remind me of a baby bonnet
And wrappings my children wore
Coming home.
Each spring
The lilies bring back moments
When I was heart-full, cherished and
At peace.

So very lovely… the tiny bells, the poem and the memories that inspired it.

Muguet des bois or whatever the fragrance is, my Mom wore. I like the way you wrote about your grandmother, Brenda. She sounds so warm, loving and comforting. My Mom’s house where my parents retired is rented by my niece. This circle in front of their home would be full of Lilies of the Valley right now, Brenda. I can picture my Mom carrying buckets of this from house to house in our lifetime. I took a bucket to the last home I lived in. . . My oldest daughter invited me to spend the night with her and the boys, since this is her first time back since her ex moved out and locks have been changed. I don’t have any more megabytes on my fancy phone left until June 9th so stopped at the library to check on a few posts. Yours is usually one I have to read! Hugs, Robin

Aw! You should be able to go to a starbucks or anywhere with wifi and get your phone to use that instead of your data plan. But the library is your second home, sounds like. 🙂

My father always grew Lilly of the Valley and they are supposed to be the Virgin Mary’s favourite flower

I have carpets of them in a few places. They are so fleeting. Like lilacs.

Yes, they are a flower of peace not strife, for sure. They are so hidden and tender. You have to get right up close and really see them.

Oh, Brenda!!! I just bought some Lily of the Valley plants to put in one of my gardens because they hold memories for me from my childhood. Your images are just so angelic looking, giving me such a sense of Peace. Thank you, my friend. Love, Amy ❤

I have some in my garden, but I didn’t plant them. I was lucky enough to find a garden already well-tended.
